What is MailPulse AI?

MailPulse AI is a browser extension that tracks email open and click events for emails sent from Gmail and Outlook. It works with a self-hosted backend server controlled entirely by the user.

Data We Collect

• Recipient email addresses — to identify tracked emails
• Email subject lines — to label emails in the tracking dashboard
• Open events — timestamp, IP address, and User-Agent when a recipient opens an email
• Click events — timestamp, IP address, and which link was clicked
• Approximate location — derived from IP address (city/country level, not precise GPS)

Data We Do NOT Collect

• Email body content
• Attachments
• Passwords or login credentials
• Browsing history
• Financial or payment information
• Contact lists or address books

Where Data is Stored

All data is stored exclusively on the user's own self-hosted server. MailPulse AI does not operate any central data collection server. The extension communicates only with the server URL configured by the user.

Third-Party Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or share any user data with third parties. No analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs are embedded in the extension.

Data Retention & Deletion

Users have full control over their data. All tracked email data can be deleted at any time by clearing the database on their self-hosted server. Uninstalling the extension removes all locally cached data.

Permissions Used

• activeTab — Access the active Gmail/Outlook tab to inject tracking pixels into composed emails
• storage — Store user preferences and cached email metadata locally in the browser
• notifications — Send desktop alerts when emails are opened, links clicked, or no-reply thresholds are reached
• alarms — Schedule periodic polling for new tracking events from the self-hosted server
• Host permissions (mail.google.com, outlook.live.com, outlook.office.com, outlook.office365.com) — Required to detect compose windows and inject tracking pixels on these email platforms

AI Features

MailPulse AI's AI-powered features (subject line scoring, follow-up generation, analytics insights) use the OpenAI API. When these features are used, email subject lines and metadata (not email body content) may be sent to OpenAI for processing. Users can choose not to use AI features. The OpenAI API key is provided and controlled by the user.

Children's Privacy

MailPulse AI is not intended for use by children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date.
